"Stairway To Heaven" was released by none other than Led Zeppelin in 1971. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant composed this song for the band's fourth studio album Led Zeppelin IV. Stairway To Heaven is one of the greatest rock songs of all time. The song begins slow and acoustic, then changes into an electric, instrumental song. It's topped by a solo from Jimmy Page and, by the end of the song, has reached hard rock.
This song was voted as #3 in 2000 on The 100 Greatest Rock Songs on VH1. It listed as #31st on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. And, though never having realeased a single in America, it was the most requested song on the radio in the 1970's. In November 2007, through downloads promoting the band's Mothership release, "Stairway To Heaven" ranked #37 on the UK Singles Chart.
